For a plan of the city, I blocked out the scene in Maya. This plan might change in the future as we start to develop our individual assets but for right now these are fine to use for reference.

The first part we want to get out the way is the buildings. These make up the majority of the scene so we assigned ourselves with these first.

We each have to make 4 buildings or 3 if we want to make some bigger since some of these may be too small depending on what you want to do with it. We will do the buildings individually but the smaller assets for the buildings will be shared around in case one of us need it but don’t want to model it again.

For example Steven will be making the fire exits for the side of the buildings and then give it to us un-textured so we can make it match with our buildings. As this project moves along we will be creating and sharing more assets between us if we need them.

After we get the buildings done, we want to focus on adding a market in the middle of the buildings. Since we are going for a very worn down environment, most the market will consist of scattered around props and roughed up stalls.

The whole market will be covered in a marquee that is dangling from the buildings to add more atmosphere inside the market but that is only after we get the base market done. This is the concept with the marquee added and scattered props.

As you can see above the buildings are place holders for highways and bridges. This will be thought of at the end but think it can add a lot to the overall look of the scene. We can also use it to add sounds for trains and cars passing over however for now we will focus on the buildings and market.
